Director Sam Raimi delivers a visual tour de force in this outrageously comic sword-and-sorcery fantasy set against sweeping medieval landscapes. When an innocent man is hurtled by mysterious forces from the present back into the Dark Ages he must battle an army of the dead in a quest for their souls--and the chance to return to his own time.
The score, performed by the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, is by Joe LoDuca, who has collaborated with director Raimi on most of his films. Additionally, Danny Elfman has contributed a macabre "March of the Dead". The music can perhaps be best described as "Batman and Conan on steroids". It is wildly out of control and perfectly complements this horror opus.
